As of January 1st, 2019, a new law, Senate Bill 1046, signed by Governor Jerry Brown, took effect throughout the state of California. One of the bills signed into law, Assembly Bill 3129, prohibits anyone convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence offense from owning a firearm for the rest of their life.
